Week 7

CURRICULUM ENRICHMENT WEEK THANKS
Thank you to all staff who organsied and assisted with Curriculum Enrichment Week activities.  It was a great week and it was wonderful to see so much learning going on beyond the classroom walls. I was privileged to spend a night at Eagles Nest in Gidgegannup where the Year 11 students spent three days on retreat. The students joined together in prayer, reflected on their own spiritual journeys and enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation in the magnificent bush setting.  Year 8 and 10 students also had a Retreat Day at school during the week.  Mrs Moira Staunton from Caritas facilitated the Year 10 Social Justice Day during which they had the opportunity to reflect on both the two days they had participated in service activities and the Church teachings on Social Justice.

Middle School students explored Big Questions in authentic contexts.  Details of Curriculum Enrichment Week at each year level will be posted on Life@HCC this week. Go to http://web.holycross.wa.edu.au/news/lifeblog/lifeblog.phpm

I am looking forward to the Learning Journey at the end of term where we will have the opportunity to view student work in response to the big questions which were at the heart of Curriculum Enrichment Week.

FATHERS’ DAY LITURGY
A reminder that we will celebrate a Fathers’ Day Liturgy on Wednesday, 4 September commencing at 7.30am in the Learning Resource Centre.  The liturgy will be followed by a breakfast in the College Cafe.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Cian Guest and Jo-Anna Maynard who competed in the National Cross-country Championships in Tasmania on the weekend.  Cian ran 24th and Jo-Anna 62nd on a muddy and challenging course.  Well done to Cian and Jo-Anna on their efforts and tenacity in competing at this level.
