LIFE TO THE FULL - CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ARCHBISHOP ROMERO

On Friday we had a very special liturgy to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Oscar Romero and to celebrate the life of this courageous man.  The liturgy took the form of a pilgrimage with students from Years 2 - 12 and staff walking a journey past scenes from Romero"s life, represented in tableau.  The scenes showed Romero's transformation as he became convinced he must use his role as archbishop to stand up against the violence, poverty and injustice in El Salvador.  Romero said, 'I do not believe in death without resurrection. If they kill me, I'll be resurrected in the Salvadoran people.'  Romero was assassinated, while saying Mass, on 24 March 1980.

Thanks to all students and staff who worked to make this liturgy a prayerful celebration of the life of a man who lived out Gospel values and who truly lived 'life to the full'
